Homework Made Simple: 5 Time-Saving Techniques Worth A Try

Homework does not have to be as difficult as you might think. Many students struggle with their assignments because they don't know where to start or how to really focus.

  1. One of the first things that you should do in order to improve your homework efficiency is to first create a space for it. You should find a place I'd are in your home, your work, your school library, or even a public café or you can really focus. Your study space maybe completely opposite from your friends study space. The purpose of this is to find one space where you do all of your homework every time you have it. If you keep working in the same place, your brain will start to associate clear focus and attention to that space. You'll start to find that whenever you move to that space, your brain will actively turn on the homework load.

  2. It is important that you have all of the tools you need for your homework space. If you are working at a desk in your bedroom, you can keep all of the things that you could possibly need to complete your assignments in that one place. You can keep it sitting on your desk or in a desk drawer. If the place you choose to work is in your school library or someplace else which is public, it might behoove you to get some sort of small plastic box, like the pencil boxes that young children use, or some sort of bag wherein all of those materials you need to complete your tasks can be placed and stored. Something that is easily transportable is best because you can bring it with you to your space each time you go to study.

  3. You want to alleviate all distractions when you're trying to study. One of the reasons that many students take so long to complete their homework is because they're full of distractions. If you're trying to do math problems and your best friend is texting you constantly and you stop each time you receive a text to read it and respond, you're wasting precious focus, concentration, and time. There is no reason that these messages cannot wait until you are done. You will find that if you alleviate distractions such as turning off the television and turning off your phone, you will be able to get so much more done in a shorter amount of time than ever before.

  4. You want to work at the same time or create a regular schedule. If you have soccer practice on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, your weekly plan might include studying Tuesday and Thursday night, but Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon. You might instead choose to stay after school for one hour from 3 PM until 4 PM to work on your tasks before you have practice. Creating some form of regular study routine will also help your brain to better focus on the task at hand. You will find that if you create a regular schedule your brain will adjust so that when that time. Hits your brain will turn on the homework load.

  5. Set an alarm. If you know that you have one hour to complete your task and you do not set a timer, you will continually check the clock or look up. But if you set an alarm or a timer, you won't have this problem because your brain will know that there is a timer which will go off when your study period is over and between now and that time or it is free to work and focus on nothing but work.
